The Indians battled last Saturday at the Veterans Coliseum, for the boys 4a state wrestling meet. Represented by Seniors Jack Eggers, and Zeddy Jamerson, Sophomores Colton Frates, and AJ Degrande, and Freshman Peyton Healey, the team placed 13th in the team standings with 39 points.

Senior Jack Eggers (170, 3-2), placed 4th, and scored 15.50 team points. He battled the number one ranked 170 wrestler in the country, Travis Wittlake, from Marshfield, and lost by tech fall. He had victories over Will Singleton (Sutherlin), Christopher Woodworth (La Grande), and Nich James (Sweet Home).

Senior Zeddy Jamerson (182, 4-2), placed 5th, and scored 8.00 team points. He had victories over Mat Thorne (El Mira), Kadin Baker (Douglas), Aiden Adams (Marshfield), and Matt Carrillo (North Marion). He was defeated by Matt Carrillo, and Draco Yandell (Estacada).

Sophomore Colton Frates, went 2-2, and scored 5.00 team points, but did not place.

Freshman Peyton Healey, went 0-2, with 0 team points, and did not place.

When asked if he met his goals for this year, Senior Jack Eggers said, “I mean, my goal was to place top 3. I’m kind of disappointed that I didn’t get that, but I did place for the first time, so that was great.”

“Against Travis, I kind of did as I expected. I went in there with a winning attitude of course, but you know he has not lost in all 4 years of highschool. That’s crazy.” He added.

Next year, the team will return 4 state wrestlers, Freshman Peyton Healey, and Sophomores Colton Frates and AJ Degrande.
